The St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office teamed up with members of the League of Angels on April 20 for some friendly competition on the volleyball court.

The League of Angels, a sports league for St. Bernard Parish children and adults with special needs, provides participants with a chance to bond with other individuals who face similar challenges, while building character and self-esteem and creating lasting friendships.

Deputies from the Sheriff’s Office served as buddies for participants in the games held at Val Riess Sports Complex in Chalmette.

Members of the Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Bureau, Special Investigations Division, Communications and Administration participated.

The mission of the League of Angels is to positively affect the lives of special needs residents by offering camaraderie, and joy of play, that organized recreational activities facilitate.
