St. Bernard Parish Hospital is proud to announce it is the recipient of the 6th Annual LAMMICO Patient Safety Award and Grant.
The 2020-2021 Patient Safety Award and Grant focuses on preventing catheter-associated urinary tract infections (CAUTIs). Urinary tract infections are one of the five most common types of healthcare-associated infections. CAUTIs have been associated with increased risks, increased morbidity, mortality, hospital cost and length of stay.
“We are honored to be recognized by LAMMICO for our approach to patient safety,” said Kimberly Keene, CEO, St. Bernard Parish Hospital. “Despite the Covid-19 pandemic, our team persevered to ensure our patients receive the highest quality care available in a safe setting.”
“This is an incredible honor, and each of our team members made it possible,” she continued. “Their strength and resilience during these difficult circumstances has been beyond impressive. It is truly heroic.”
By demonstrating the most effective methods employed to prevent CAUTIs after completing LAMMICO’s risk management and patient safety education, St. Bernard Parish Hospital was awarded the following:
- $10,000 grant to be used for nursing professional development,
- One-year Risk Manager membership to the American Society for Healthcare Risk Management (ASHRM),
- One-year complimentary membership to Medical Interactive Community for all employees to access LAMMICO’s risk management CME/CNE/MOC courses online.
