St. Bernard Parish Government Names Interim Fire Chief as Search for New Fire Chief Begins

St. Bernard Fire Department Assistant Chief of Administration Charles J. Licciardi, Jr. has been named interim Fire Chief of the St. Bernard Fire Department (SBFD). 

Chief Licciardi has assume the interim role until a successor can be found to fill the position.  

The SBFD’s top spot was vacated when Chief Thomas Stone announced his retirement after 32 as Chief.  

Chief Licciardi began his fire service career with the St. Bernard Parish Fire Department in October 1997. He has served in his current position, Assistant Chief of Administration, since October 2019. With 25 years of experience, Chief Licciardi will ensure that Fire Department operations continue seamlessly throughout the search for a new Fire Chief.   

“It is my goal to provide steady leadership in our department and ensure that St. Bernard Parish residents continue to receive quality services,” stated Licciardi, who holds several fire service certifications and has completed numerous courses from the National Fire Academy and holds a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree.  

Licciardi along with his wife Andrea and their two daughters, Alixandra and Abigale, are lifelong residents of St. Bernard Parish. 

“We are fortunate to have such an experienced person to serve in the interim Fire Chief’s position while we conduct our search for a new Fire Chief,” said St. Bernard Parish Chief Administrative Officer Ronnie Alonzo. We’d like to ask everyone for their patience and support as we begin this very important process.”
