St. Bernard Christian Academy Board of Directors, Parish and State Leaders, Community Leaders, Citizens and School Staff and Students gathered together on Wednesday, June 30, 2021 to break ground on a newly constructed school. The school began operating for the 2020/2021 school year and held classes at the former Lynn Oaks School as preparations, government applications and approvals were being secured. With this all concluding in early June, bids were released for public bidding.
The projected cost for the school is $10,000,000 with the awarding of the bid of the school occurring in Mid-July with construction proceeding right after. The time line for opening the school will be January 2022, the start of the school after Christmas Break. The school will continue to operate from the Lynn Oak School site until the construction is complete.
The location will be at the old Sears Store (4300 E. Judge Perez Drive) site in Meraux down river from the existing Tractor Supply Store, specifically the southeast corner of the development.
The school has Pre-K 3 through 9th grade with plans to add 10th, 11th and 12th grades over the next few years. The success of St. Bernard Christian Academy in its first full year has shown to provide a High-Quality Curriculum with a Christian atmosphere.
Enrollment is still on-going and students interested in attending can call 504-267-0367 or email info@stbernardchristianacademy.com.
