The St. Bernard Autism Awareness Krewe celebrated, “The Greatest Two Minutes in Sports” on May 7, 2022, by hosting its Parish Derby event at the Frederick J. Sigur Civic Center.
Attendees enjoyed great food, Derby themed libations and best dressed prizes as well as several fun activities. This year marked the event’s 5th Anniversary and funds the many programs sponsored by the Krewe for St. Bernard families dealing with the daily struggles associated with Autism Spectrum Disorder and other related conditions.
Funds raised go directly to support the following programs: sensory bags for school children and first responders in partnership with the St. Bernard Parish School Board, annual parent training, swimming lessons, first responder training, individual grants for families and educators, STEAM events in partnership with Nunez Community College, The Help Me Home Program in partnership with the St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office, Christmas and Back to School Socials and pin distribution for Autism Awareness month.
The Krewe is also proud to announce that in partnership with the St. Bernard Parish School Board, funds raised will also provide for a summer camp this June for children who qualify. The Krewe would like to thank its many generous sponsors, its community partners, and all of its volunteers who made the event possible. Save the date for next year’s event on May 6, 2023.
