On Saturday, May 7, 2022 Averi Blyss Crawford and Megan Marie Assavedo were crowned Miss Teen and Miss St. Bernard Parish Redfish Queens at the third Miss St. Bernard Parish Redfish Pageant held at the Nunez Community College Auditorium.

Megan Marie Assavedo of Meraux was crowned Miss St. Bernard Parish Redfish 2022. Megan is the 22-year-old daughter of Lonnie and Michelle Assavedo of Meraux. She is a graduate of Ursuline Academy of New Orleans and attended the University of Alabama. Megan is in the process of transferring to nursing school in hopes of becoming a travel nurse. She has also received training and certification to become a Registered Behavior Technician through the Autism Partnership Foundation. Assavedo has received multiple awards and honors, including making the University of Alabama Dean’s List, receiving the Christian Leadership Award, Honor Roll, Ursuline Cheer Captain and Coach’s Award, and she was named the art division winner of the 2018 Louisiana State Rally. Currently, Megan works as a portrait photographer and is nanny to four children. A life ambition of hers is to one day open a Scrambled Meggs Café with an attached art store and one day write and illustrate her own children’s book. In addition to the title, Assavedo won the Ad Page Award.

The second runner-up in the Miss division was Allie Landry of Hammond. The first runner-up of the Miss division who was offered the bid to represent St. Bernard Parish at this year’s Louisiana Fur & Wildlife Festival Pageant was Ashley Gorrell of Leesville.

Averi Blyss Crawford of Baton Rouge was crowned Miss Teen St. Bernard Parish Redfish 2022. Crawford is the 16-year-old daughter of Celeste Vranic and attends The Dunham School in Baton Rouge. She is a member of the Art Club, Beta Club, Cultural Correspondence Club, National Honors Society, and is a cheerleader. Her talents and hobbies include offshore fishing, fishing on the river, pilates and working out, traveling, shopping, and fashion. She plans to attend college and law school and aspires to become a construction attorney. In addition to winning the title, Crawford also won Most Photogenic and People’s Choice.

The first runner-up in the Teen division went to Brooke Hogan of Mandeville.

Crowning the new titleholders were the 2020-2021 St. Bernard Parish Redfish Queens Paris Marques and Alayna Robichaux. Marques and Robichaux beautifully represented St. Bernard at many events across the state for the last 18 months and each won cash scholarships as part of their pageant wins.

Along with the titles and crowns, both Crawford and Assavedo will represent St. Bernard Parish, the St. Bernard Parish Redfish Festival, and our fishing tournament partners and sponsors for the next year on a local and state level. Assavedo will also represent the St. Bernard Parish Redfish Festival at the 2023 Louisiana Association of Fairs and Festivals Convention and its annual Queen Pageant.

The St. Bernard Parish Redfish Pageant is the official pageant of the St. Bernard Parish Redfish Festival. This year’s pageant was presented by The Arlene & Joseph Meraux Charitable Foundation and the St. Bernard Parish Redfish Festival.
