St. Bernard Parish would like to make its residents aware of the extended opportunity to comment on the Joint Application for Permit for the proposed new container terminal, to be located in Violet within St. Bernard Parish.
The comment period for the Joint Application (Ref#: MVN- 2021-00270-EG) for the proposed new container terminal to be located in Violet, La., within St. Bernard Parish, has been extended to April 28, 2022. The extended comment period is due to a change in the federal jurisdictional wetlands determination process. Comments received during the initial public comment period in Jan 2022-Feb 2022 are still valid and do not need to be resubmitted.
The Parish has been able to confirm with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) that upon closure of the extended comment period, the next steps in the environmental review process for the proposed project will be USACE review of the comments and determination of the type of environmental review best suited for the permit.
