The Our Lady of Prompt Succor Parish Tomato Festival will be from Friday, May 13 through Sunday, May 15 on the school/church grounds, 2320 Paris Road, Chalmette. The festival will be complete with good food, live local entertainment, games and rides.
The event kicks off the Creole tomato season with delicious food including raw and grilled oysters, Tomato-a-la-Chalmette, barbecue shrimp, jambalaya, shrimp fettuccini, crawfish fried rice, Italian sausage, pizza, funnel cakes, chicken strips, hamburgers, hot dogs, and more. The annual Tomato Festival Children’s Pageant will be on the Saturday of the festival, and Miss, Teen and Junior Pageants are on Sunday.
Students from Prompt Succor will perform on stage during the festival as well as a complete line up of live musical entertainment. Miah and the Krewe and Nashville South will perform on stage on Friday, May 13. Live music entertainment on Saturday, May 14 will include Tongue and Groove, Six Gun Solution, and Category 6. Jason Dorcey, Cypress Pop Trio and Karma will perform Sunday, May 15 to close out the festival.
There will be a $5 gate fee for the festival. Our Lady of Prompt Succor students and any children age of 10 or younger will get in for free. On Friday, pay-one-price rides will be from 6 p.m.-11 p.m. The pay-one-price schedule will be from noon to 5 p.m. and from 6 p.m.-11 p.m. on Saturday, and from noon to 5 p.m. and from 6 p.m.-10 p.m. on Sunday. Pay-one-price ride armbands will be available for $30. All-weekend pay-one-price armbands will be available for $85.
