Members of NARFE (National Association of Retired Federal Employees) Vernon N. Landry Chapter 1398, St. Bernard, would like to thank Sen. Bill Cassidy’s Southeast Regional Director, Rachel Perez (first row, second person from the left) and his Southeast Field Representative, Samantha Bopp (first row, third person from the left), who spoke to us at our March monthly meeting about the Senator’s strong support of the Social Security Fairness Act. This bill repeals the Windfall Elimination Provision (WEP) and the Government Pension Offset (GPO), both of which significantly reduce benefits for nearly 2.3 million Americans, including more than 70,000 Louisianans (i.e., police, firefighters, teachers, federal/state/local government employees and their families).Â
