A delegation of queens from across the great State of Louisiana toured St. Bernard Parish Saturday, June 12, 2021.

Festival Queens from Louisiana participated in the Louisiana Crawfish Pageant which was held at St. Bernard Christian Academy. St. Bernard Parish Tourism and Film Executive Director Katie Tommaseo led the tour with Parish Historian William Hyland.

Participants were guided along Terre-aux-Boeufs through the area where St. Bernard Parish began in the late 18th century. The delegation visited Los Islenos Museum Complex to discover St. Bernard’s culture.

The highlight of the tour was visiting the St. Bernard Seafood Market held in Hopedale. Councilmembers Kerri Callais, Richie Lewis, Josh Moran, and the Executive Director of Coastal John Lane greeted the festival royalty and thanked them for visiting St. Bernard.

“Programs which grow maturity, responsibility and pride in Louisiana are important to the development of our youth,” said Tommaseo.

Katie Bigner who was crowned the 2019 Miss Louisiana Crawfish Queen and Kristin Nash who was crowned the 2019 Teen Louisiana Crawfish Queen gave up their crowns after two years to new Crawfish Festival Royalty. The 2021 new Queens are Queen Kenley Lemoine and Teen Queen Isabella Richoux.

The pageant is sponsored by the Louisiana Crawfish Festival and the Knights of Columbus Rummel Council 5747. For information on upcoming events please go to www.visitstbernard.com.
