On May 23rd, 2021 Kiwanis Club of St. Bernard-Arabi and Relay for Life of St. Bernard hosted the Inaugural Run Da Parish 5k. It was held at the Los Isleños Museum Complex in St. Bernard.
We were very fortunate to have a lot of help from the community such as Boy Scouts of America Troop 11 who presented colors and held a prayer before the event started. The Liberty Belles Softball Team volunteered their time to help cheer, prepare and serve food, as well as anything else we needed them to do. A Chalmette High School Voices student, Breana Enos, performed the national anthem beautifully. We had the reserve deputies, the Fire Department, Chalmette Track Club and Chalmette Crossfit who came to volunteer with us as well to help make sure the run went on without a hitch.
We had over 106 runners signed up and our first runner came in at 21:49! How amazing! We were able to raise $6,000 that will go towards our programs and to cancer research this year. We are looking forward to doing this again next year.
