On Sunday, Sept. 12, 2021, at 10 a.m. the First Baptist Church, Chalmette, will host a special service to pray for and honor first responders serving in St. Bernard Parish.
“Honor Our Heroes” follows the biblical mandate to “give honor to whom honor is due,” related Dr. John Dee Jeffries, pastor of First Baptist, “When we honor those whom God has placed in community and civic leadership and service,” added Jeffries, “we attach God’s favor and blessing to their service.”
Community and civic leaders participating in the “Honor Our Heroes” service include Sheriff Jimmy Pohlmann, Fire Chief Tommy Stone, Sgt. Maj. Gene Wilson of Jackson Barracks, and State Representative Ray Garolalo. Special presentations will be made to our Honorable Judges, St. Bernard Hospital and Valero Refinery.
Special choir and congregational music shall be under the leadership of Janet Dilbert. Addison Thompson is Chairman of Deacons. Dr. John Dee Jeffries is pastor.
The church is located at 305 E. St. Bernard Hwy. Child care is available.
