At approximately 3:15 p.m. on Aug. 17, the St. Bernard Parish Fire Department responded to a report of a structure fire in Meraux.
The St. Bernard Parish Fire Department responded to the emergency call in the 2000 block of Margaret Lane in Meraux, for a structure fire. Upon arrival and within four minutes of dispatch, firefighters found a 58-year-old male deceased inside the home.
The single family structure sustained fire, smoke, and heat damage throughout the interior. Firefighters investigated further and took necessary action to ensure the fire was extinguished.
The fire fatality is under investigation by the St. Bernard Parish Fire Department, Sheriff’s Office, Coroner and being assisted by the State Fire Marshal’s Office.
