There was a Wild Bill sighting at Chalmette High School when WGNO TV reporter Bill Wood visited the campus recently. Wood, a multiple Emmy award-winning journalist, was at the school for a story featuring long-time CHS Principal Wayne Warner.
During his visit, Wood also graciously agreed to be on the other side of the camera, being interviewed by students from the school’s film and video production class.
Under the direction of Andrea Morningstar and with assistance from Fred Hebert, Jack Jackson, and the district’s cable access channel, CHS students Ava Heidel, Jamir Stewart, and Kawan Wilson took turns asking Wood an array of questions, ranging from his educational background to his creative process.
Wood was incredibly open and forthright in his feedback and advice, giving the students a unique glimpse into the newsgathering business. The students were also involved in setting up the lights and the sound for the production, giving them some real-world experience in broadcasting.
After the studio interview, Wood joined Warner in the CHS library to gather more information and stories about Warner’s illustrious and incredible career as an educator in St. Bernard.
