Chalmette Wins Baseball District Championship

The 2021 Chalmette High baseball team lost to Benton in the Louisiana High School Athletic Association state playoffs. Chalmette finished their season as the undefeated District 8-5A champions.

Chalmette travelled to Benton and lost 9-4. The Owls had seven hits in the game. Benton used a steady offense and good defense to win the game. They had eleven hits and scored runs in five innings. The Tiger did not allow any errors in the game.

Bryce Babin and Trent Gonzales each had two hits to lead the Chalmette offense. Babin also had two stolen bases. Gonzales also had a stolen base and he scored two runs. Landon Tircuit and Evan Jacob each had a base hit and a run batted in. Gary Vinet also had a base hit and scored a run. Brenden Zahn also had a run batted in.

Chalmette finished their season with a 17-10 overall record. In District 8-5A games, the Owls were unbeaten in ten district contests. Their district opponents were John Ehret, Higgins, West Jefferson, East Jefferson, Grace King, Riverdale and Bonnabel.
