Chalmette Baseball Team Unbeaten in District

The Chalmette High baseball team is unbeaten in District 8-5A competition. Chalmette has won eight of its last nine games including all seven district games. Chalmette has defeated Higgins (12-0), Grace King (12-1), Riverdale (11-1), Bonnabel (16-2), John Ehret (13-1), West Jefferson (11-0) and East Jefferson (10-4). This week the Owls will complete their regular season. The Owls have an overall record of 14-10.

Chalmette has a team batting average of .318 this season. Tyler Carreras has the highest batting average at .424. Other leading Owl hitters are Brenden Zahn (.386), Dylan Bryan (.371), Landen Tircuit (.333) and Cameron Pilet (.308).

Tyler Carreras and Trent Gonzales lead the team with 24 runs batted in each. Brenden Zahn leads the team with 31 runs scored. Bryce Babin and Gary Vinet have each scored 23 runs. Dylan Bryan and Brenden Zahn lead the team with 16 and 15 stolen bases respectively.

Trent Gonzales and Tyler Carreras have led the Owl pitching staff this season. They have combined for 11 wins with 76 strikeouts in 79 innings.
